Turbine maker Siemens will supply 20 SG 5.0-145 units for the Hilda wind project in Alberta.
In its first project with RES in Canada, Siemens Gamesa has signed a deal to supply turbines for Alberta’s 100MW Hilda wind project.
As part of the deal, Siemens Gamesa will supply 20 SG 5.0-145 turbines.
Shannon Sturgil, CEO, Onshore North America, at Siemens Gamesa, said in a statement that: “RES continues to be a key partner in providing clean energy solutions, as well as a strong global citizen in the communities we serve, and we are proud to expand our partnership with them into Canada.
The 71-metre blade on the SG 4.X platform blends aerodynamics and noise attenuation traits, including Siemens Gamesa’s DinoTails Futuristic turbine technology.
In a statement, the company said the technology “guarantees a high production of energy and reduced noise emission levels”.
The noise reduction will advance the performance at the Hilda wind power project while remaining within the permissible noise emission levels.
Siemens Gamesa confirms that it already has orders for over 1.2GW of power from western Canada with the SG 4.X platform for installation through 2023.
